Community COVID Transmission 'High' In Bergen County: CDC

The CDC reported 1,242 new cases of the coronavirus in the last week.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Community COVID transmission remains high in Bergen County, the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report shows.

Seven-day metrics from the CDC show that the county recorded 1,242 new cases this week, an uptick of less than 1 percent.

CDC metrics show that 75 percent of the eligible population in the county is vaccinated.

Hospitalization saw an uptick in the county, however, as the 95 new admissions in the last week are a 20 percent increase.

The delta variant remains the prevailing strain of the virus in the state, accounting for nearly 97 percent of all variants sequenced in the last four weeks.
