BMW Plunges Into River After Crash On Route 80
The driver fled and was found under a train, said the NJ State Police.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A BMW driver was arrested Tuesday night after he crashed into a Land Rover on Route 80, then tumbled into the Hackensack River, state police said.
Zorawar S. Kohli, 32, of Englewood Cliffs was charged with two counts of assault by auto, fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight, and fourth-degree obstruction, police said.

State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said that around 9:49 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a crash at milepost 66.9 in Ridgefield Park.

A BMW SUV had crashed with a Land Rover SUV, Lebron said. The BMW flew over the concrete barrier on the right and plunged into the river, he said.
The driver and passenger of the Land Rover sustained minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital, Lebron said. There were no other reported injuries, he said.

Kohli was able to get out of the BMW and was found under a nearby train, officials said.
Ridgefield Park's fire department said they responded to the area of 300 Industrial Ave. to make sure nobody was in the car. The confirmed that the driver had already left.
The Bergen County Regional Dive Team and other responders also assisted. Marine units, and a drone with thermal imaging, were used to check both shorelines for injured passengers as well, the Fire Department said.
State police said that Kohli was released to await a future court date.
