Earthquake Rattles North NJ Tuesday: Did You Feel It?
The quake was felt in North Jersey on Tuesday morning, residents say.
NORTH JERSEY — A 2.3 magnitude earthquake in New York State rattled parts of New Jersey on Tuesday morning, residents said.
The quake, based in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., followed a smaller one on Sunday night that was based in Whitehouse Station, N.J.
The U.S. Geological Survery said the Tuesday quake occurred at 10:17 a.m. and was 7.4 km in depth.

More than 1,000 people told the USGS how it impacted them. A map shows where people felt the quake, largely near the New York/New Jersey border.

“I think actually I felt a slight shake in Mahwah at that time," wrote a resident on Facebook, after a meteorologist posted about it. Residents in Central Jersey said they didn't feel anything.

"Felt like an earthquake in Bergen County, NJ a couple minutes ago, who else felt it?" wrote journalist Natalie Pasquarella around 10:21 a.m., on X.
The previous quake on Sunday evening measured 1.3, the USGS said.
