
NJ Metro Fire Photographers Presents “the Firebuff Photo Night”, highlighting fire photography from the Metro area.
Featuring Photographers from the New Jersey Metro Area
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – The New Jersey Metro Fire Photographers Association will present their annual “Photo Night” on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at the Henry P. Becton Regional High School in East Rutherford, NJ.
There will be photo shows presented by many NJMFPA members, whose work has graced the pages of The Herald News, The Record, Star Ledger, 1st Responder Newspaper, Firehouse, Fire Engineering, Fire Chief and many other national magazines for years. In the 27 years of its existence, the NJMFPA has grown from an original membership of twelve, to a present count of over ONE HUNDRED members and growing. The membership includes volunteer and career firefighters, police officers, dispatchers, fire service magazine staff writers, and fire buffs, all with the same common interest of fire photography.
This years photo shows will include narrative and musical compilations from around the area. The main presentation will be from the collections of club members, including the late Artie Knobloch, with historical photos going back over a half-century of firefighting. In addition, member Martin Grube of Virginia Beach will be present video and still photographs of the events of the F-18 fighter jet crash and fire department response last month over Hampton, VA.
During the evening event, The Association will present their annual “Valor Award” and “Unit Citation Award” to selected heroic firefighters who performed an act of bravery in 2011. Firefighter Ralph Castellano from the Belleville Fire Department will be honored with the Valor Award, and Captain Carl Wendt, Firefighter Raymond Hatton from the Newark Fire Department will receive the Unit Citation Award.
Firematic vendors will be offering t-shirts, books, videos and collectibles, and a new, classic, and antique fire apparatus display will run in conjunction with the photo show. Refreshments will be available. The event will begin at 4:00 PM. Apparatus will be on display outside starting at 3:30PM. The show starts promptly at 6:00PM. Admission is $8.00, with children under 12 admitted free.
