Patch: How long have you been doing business in town, or how long has your organization been around in the community?
Silva: Blue Foundry Bank (formerly known as Boiling Springs Savings Bank) has deep roots in the Ridgewood community dating back to 2001 when it opened three locations. The bank celebrated the grand opening of its new Ridgewood branch, located at 253 E. Ridgewood Ave on June 22, 2021.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Silva: As a customer of the Blue Foundry Bank, I found the products and services ideal for my needs, and appreciated the personal-touch service provide by the employees. I knew I wanted to become a part of the Blue Foundry Bank team and provide that same experience for others. I began my career at Blue Foundry in a part-time capacity, quickly becoming a full-time universal banker and am now excited to be the assistant branch manager at our new Ridgewood location. I found the perfect career path at Blue Foundry.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Silva: Committed, service-oriented, responsive, approachable, enthusiastic
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Silva: Being a part of this new branch opening in Ridgewood will be my greatest challenge to date. By drawing on my interpersonal skills, the ability to understand the banking needs of the individuals, businesses, and communities we serve, and the outstanding support of the entire Blue Foundry Bank team I know this will be a successful and exceptional experience.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Silva: Building long-term relationships with customers and helping them craft solutions to reach their financial goals. It’s truly rewarding!
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Silva: We’re more than just a bank, and we serve as a hub for strengthening the community which is why it’s at the heart of everything we do. Blue Foundry Bank is invested in making a difference in the lives of our customers here in the community, not just through our banking services, but through our philanthropic commitments including our work with organizations like the Family Promise of Bergen County, Ridgewood Education Foundation, and Life Opportunities Unlimited, three nonprofits we partnered with as a part of our Ridgewood grand opening. We’re a different kind of banking experience, and to showcase this we’ve rolled out our “Blue is Here for You” service delivered by dedicated, knowledgeable universal bankers. From everyday banking needs to longer-term financial goals, clients will receive the individual support they need to get the most out of their Blue Foundry banking relationship.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Silva: Always ask questions and know your products & services well so that you can provide the best solution to fit a customer’s financial needs.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about? If so, what details can you share and what makes it so exciting?
Silva: I am most excited to build a new business in the Ridgewood community and offer a reimagined banking experience for all. Our newly designed branch offers an open space where you can conduct all aspects of your business in one area while collaborating with our team.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community? If so, tell us about them.
Silva: We recently offered (through July 31, 2021) a daily drawing for gift cards to local retailers and restaurants, supporting our efforts to strengthen the community and its business district.
