Fairview Man Sexually Assaulted Child For Over A Year, Prosecutors Say
The suspect was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault for crimes against a child, prosecutors say.
FAIRVIEW, NJ — A Fairview man was charged Monday with five counts of aggravated sexual assault for crimes committed against a child, prosecutors said.
Carlos M. Leon, 44, of Fairview, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Monday, the Fairview Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding alleged sexual assaults of a juvenile that had occurred in the past.

The investigation determined that Leon had sexually assaulted and endangered a juvenile in Fairview, on more than one occasion, between November 2024 and last month, prosecutors said.
Leon was charged specifically on Monday with five counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

He was arrested Monday in Carlstadt with the help of the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, prosecutors said.
He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a detention hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
