Updated: Film Crew Uses Ridgewood as Backdrop for Documentary

The History Channel documentary is about "the little things"

Film crews were seen above the former Bazzini restaurant on Oak Street Tuesday night, dropping cinderblocks from the roof and setting up shots for camera angles in the alley between Bazzini and the Park West Tavern.

According to film crew member Erica–who chose not to provide her last name–the shoot was for a History Channel documentary, which will focus on the little things in life.

It's centered on “how many things we take for granted are actually quite novel…things like string, when they were invented were actually very unique,” she said at the scene.

The staffer stated that Ridgewood is to be the backdrop for the documentary, and that permits for the shoot were as expensive as $5,000.

Organizers were directing foot traffic away from the area, to keep pedestrians out of the camera’s scope and harm’s way. Police were also on hand to provide support.

On Wednesday, the crew was filming on the sidewalk outside of Country Pancake.

Several "primo" parking spots again could not be used, as they'd interfere with the footage. Police were again on hand.

The commercial film fee in Ridgewood is $500, the traffic fee for officers is $65 per hour, per officer. Additionally, insurance can run up to $3,000 and a permit between $250 and 2,500 requires the site be clear of any debris.

According to village code, permits allow for only three consecutive days of filming. Any deviation requires express written consent from the village manager.

Portions of the CBD were closed down a few weeks ago as Volkswagon filmed a commercial.
