See Rain Totals For Storm As Bergen County Flood Warning Extended Again

Rain totals for Ridgewood, Franklin Lakes, and Mahwah are in, as the flood warning has been extended through Friday morning.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A flood warning has been extended through early Friday morning by the National Weather Service after the second major rainstorm in two weeks caused the Saddle River to rise.

Rain Totals Released

Ridgewood got the most rain in the storm, with one observer gauging approximately 3 inches, the National Weather Service said. Mahwah, Oakland, and Franklin Lakes each got more than 2 inches, the NWS said.

The river had risen to 6.9 feet by 10 a.m. Thursday, the NWS said. The river was expected to crest at 7 feet "late this morning" and then fall below flood stage.

The NWS says:

  • Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
  • Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
