Food Meets Fitness At New Ridgewood Business

Certified personal trainer and nutrition expert opens The Mediterranean Zone on Oak Street.

A new business owner believes that everyone should do what makes them happy.

Lisa Mayisoglu has opened The Mediterranean Zone, which combines her two greatest passions, food and fitness.

“People lead such busy lives and often don’t have time to take care of themselves properly,” Mayisoglu said. “By offering exercise instruction and healthy, portion-controlled meals, I’d like to help people lead healthier, more active lifestyles.”

Mayisoglu offers baseline fitness assessments and personalized exercise routines. A variety of tools, including kettle bells, resistance bands, weights, and Pilates, can be used. Group exercise classes are throughout the week.

Nutritional support is available as well. Mayisoglu will sell prepared Mediterranean-based meals for clients, including appetizers, salads, entrees, and side dishes. Each will have a calorie content and portion size noted on them.

“Fad diets come and go. The Mediterranean diet has been around for ages and proven to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer,” Mayisoglu said. “Most diets aren’t successful because they leave people feeling hungry. This isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle with real food.”

Mediterranean Zone is located at 28 Oak St. For more information, call 201-978-5384 or visit its Facebook page.
