Former Ridgewood Lacrosse Star Indicted In Killing Of Mother: Report

Nicholas Piotti, 24, allegedly stabbed his mother, Karen to death, prosecutors say.

A former Ridgewood lacrosse star was indicted on murder and weapons charges Monday by a state grand jury, The Record reported.

Nicholas Piotti, 24, was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the killing of his mother, Karen, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The two were close, NJ.com reported.

The elder Piotti was found dead of multiple stab wounds and beating trauma in September.

John Weichsel, Piotti’s defense attorney, said in September that his client should have been in a mental health facility, NJ.com reported.

Piotti was working as a stagehand at ABC-7 at the time of his arrest; he is scheduled to return to court to be arraigned on the charges, the website reported.

Piotti is being held in Bergen County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
