The Forum School Presents ‘Navigating the Transition from Education to Adulthood’
Workshop for special needs students, their families and educators
Waldwick, NJ – The Forum School, a private school serving students with autism and related disabilities, is hosting a free workshop for special needs students, their families and educators. The workshop, “Navigating the Transition from Education to Adulthood”, will be held on March 2nd, 2017 at the school’s campus located at 107 Wyckoff Avenue in Waldwick, NJ beginning at 7:00 pm.
Recognizing the dramatic changes that occur when youth with disabilities graduate from high school, The Forum School has invited a panel of legal, therapeutic, and support professionals to offer a comprehensive perspective to guide special needs students and their families during this transition. In the workshop, families and educators will learn about special needs trusts, learn how to preserve speech, physical and occupational therapies after graduation, and learn about accessing adult services and supports from the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
The presenters, Shirley Whitenack, Esq., Jason Campbell, OTR, and Joseph DeSimone are eager to share their combined years of expertise to help support families and community members succeed as adults and attain peace of mind. The workshop is offered at no charge as an outreach service to special needs families and educators in and around Waldwick. Please RSVP to Katherine Kandravy by calling 201-444-5882 or emailing to Katherine.kandravy@theforumschool.com.
