Frank DeGondea III, 35, Longtime Ridgewood Stop & Shop Employee, Died Saturday

A mass honoring Frank's life will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Frank DeGondea III, 35, died Saturday. He was loved and adored by all of those who were lucky enough to know him and had a personality to match his big smile.

He was a graduate of Bergen County Vocational and Technical High School, class of 2002, and was a dedicated long-time employee of Stop and Shop in Ridgewood.

He enjoyed collecting movies, of which he had an extensive collection. Because of this, his nickname was Hollywood Duff. He also loved to sing and would perform a beautiful song for his family each year on Christmas.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Joyce (nee: Giardina) DeGondea of Elmwood Park; father, Frank DeGondea Jr. of Fair Lawn; sister, Joanna (nee: DeGondea) Flanagan, and her husband, John; paternal grandparents, Frank and Lavonne DeGondea, of Saddle Brook; nieces and nephews, Brandon, Kaitlynn, Lexi, and Brent; aunts and uncles; and many cousins and close friends, especially the love of his life, Danielle.

He was predeceased by his older brother, Joseph and his maternal grandparents, Samuel and Antoinette Giardina.

In lieu of flowers, the family be accepting donations payable to the Elmwood Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Frank’s memory, for all of the wonderful comfort, care and patience the EMTs provided to Frank during the countless emergency trips they made to his home, loving and caring for him time and time again.

A mass honoring Frank’s life will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church located at 1 Passaic Street in Ridgewood before he is brought to his final resting place at Hackensack Cemetery, located at 289 Hackensack Avenue Hackensack.
