Mail-In Votes Boost Glen Rock Democratic Council Candidates

Democrats Jill Orlich and Mary Barchetto both garnered more than 600 mail-in votes, a boost in a close council race.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — The race for council in Glen Rock couldn't have been much closer on Tuesday, with only 60 votes separating the second and third-highest vote getters, and only five votes separating first and second.

Mail-in votes have proven to give a boost to both Democratic candidates, however.

Glen Rock Council President Mary Barchetto is seeking re-election in 2021, and Jill Orlich will run for the first time. Republicans Maria Dolan and William J. Leonard will challenge.

Here are the latest early voting and election day unofficial vote totals from the Bergen County Clerk's Office:

  • Mary Barchetto (D) — 1,884
  • Jill Orlich (D) — 1,807
  • Maria Dolan (R) — 1,824
  • William J. Leonard (R) — 1,889

And mail-in votes:

  • Barchetto — 627
  • Orlich — 614
  • Dolan — 167
  • Leonard — 175
