07-06-2021

Just after 6:00 PM a storm brought heavy rains and winds causing damage throughout the Borough. Three homes were struck by trees, with the most serious damage occurring to a residence on Amherst Court. A large tree came down at the intersection of Harristown Road and Radburn Road causing a road closure. Other side streets also experienced closures due to multiple limbs and wires down. Several vehicles were reported to have been damaged. A total of 25 emergency storm related responses were made by police and fire personnel assisted by the DPW and P.S.E. & G crews. There were no reports of any injuries because of the storm.

1:57 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported that she had done an Internet search for a locksmith with whom she sought to contract with for work at her home. Shortly thereafter she received a call from a purported representative of the locksmith asking that she communicate with him over “WhatsApp” which she did. Following this a person showed up at her home driving a vehicle with a New Hampshire registration, assessed the work that needed to be done but told the resident that he would have to leave the home to purchase the necessary locks and come back. While this individual was gone, an actual representative of the locksmith company she contracted with showed up at the residence. The matter has been referred to the detective bureau for review.

1:57 PM – The manager of Starbucks in the Rock Road Central Business District reported being threatened by an apparent homeless man he found climbing on the store’s garbage dumpster. An officer located the subject at Boulevard and Kenmore a short time later. The man, who confirmed having no current address, denied that he threatened anyone and claimed that he had been harassed. The matter was documented should either individual desire to sign complaints. No unlawful conduct was witnessed by the responding officers.
