When the delivery did not occur as scheduled, he contacted the seller who indicated that there was an incident during takeoff in Georgia resulting in an aircraft crash. Due to the crash the seller indicated they would no longer be able to sell the aircraft. A refund of the deposit was promised.
The complainant subsequently made an inquiry with officials at the airport in Georgia and found that there was no such crash, nor was there a record of the aircraft in question ever having been at that airport. As of the time of the report, the promised refund had not been received.
The Detective Bureau is currently reviewing this matter and a fraud claim has been filed with the complainant’s bank.
