Glen Rock Resident Opening New Children's Swimming School This Month

Goldfish Swim School in Wyckoff is designed to help children 4 months to 12 years old learn how to swim in a kid-friendly environment.

A Glen Rock resident is opening a kid-friendly swimming school in Wyckoff.

Goldfish Swim School will open its first New Jersey location later on this month. There are several franchise locations throughout the country.

Owner Jennifer Casper, a mother of four children, said that the business gives children a kid-friendly place to go and complete, what, for some kids, is a very frightening experience: learning how to swim.

“There is no dedicated swimming facility in Bergen County and there aren’t too many local options,” said Casper. “My husband and I are thrilled to bring the concept to Bergen County.”

The 4-foot deep, custom-built pool is kept at 90 degrees and has a water purification system.

“Our instructors can stand with the kids the entire time they are in the pool,” Casper said. ”It is designed to make the children feel as comfortable as possible.”

The facility caters to children 4 months to 12 years old and will feature a flexible class schedule. Casper said a grand opening is planning for sometime in October.

“It feels like you’re on a beach,” said Casper. “There’s a surfboard drying station, a tiki bar changing station, a snack bar. It’s about getting the kids to want to come to learn how to swim and giving them a fun environment to do it in.”
