Glen Rock Students Get Nod for Helen Hayes Award
Colligan and Schertz honored for 'Fiddler' roles
A big mazel tov is due to a talented pair of Glen Rock High students.
The Helen Hayes High School Theatre Awards have been announced and Senior Wil Colligan and freshman Peter Schertz both got nods for their roles in February's musical production of "Fiddler on the Roof."
Colligan was recognized for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role (Tevye) and Schertz received a nod for Outstanding Featured Ensemble Member in his role as Mendel, the rabbi's son.

Led by the creative team of Porch Light Productions in Glen Rock, Ryan Pifher, Jon Provan and Kendall Stagaard — director, musical director and choreographer, respectively — 'Fiddler' included about 40 cast and crew members in grades 9-12.
The Helen Hayes High School Theater Awards were created in 1998 to spotlight exceptional musical theater productions, actors, actresses and creative teams. High Schools in Rockland and Westchester Counties in New York and Bergen County in New Jersey are invited to participate in the competition.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held Monday, June 6, at 7:30pm at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill, N.Y. Modeled after Broadway's Tony Awards, the ceremony features Broadway stars as presenters as well as live performances from top nominated schools and actors.
