Glen Rock 'Will Not Tolerate Hate,' Mayor Says
Some students are using Donald Trump's victory to empower them to bully others.

GLEN ROCK, N.J. — Borough elected officials, police officers, school officials, and other local leaders will watch out for each other, and especially residents, in the coming days and weeks.
This is the message Mayor Bruce Packer wishes to convey to the community after a number of incidents, including protests, hate crimes, and physical attacks, and bullying in schools, have been reported throughout the country in the days following Donald Trump's historic upset of Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.
Packer said students wearing Trump shirts in the school where his wife works have disrupted classes and bullied students, including those who were not born in the United States, the mayor said.

"Our schools will continue, as they always have, to show a zero tolerance policy for bullying. Our police, as they always have, will protect our residents against any and all crimes, including bias crimes," Packer said. "I will continue to act on behalf of all Glen Rockers with no regard for race, religion, sexual preference, ethnicity, political leanings or any other differences. I believe that it is our differences that enrich our community and our country."
Packer urges residents to reach out to him via email at bpacker@glenrocknj.net, school Superintendent Paula Valenti at valentip@glenrocknj.org, or Police Chief Dean Ackerman at dackermann@glenrockpolice.com.
