Glen Rock's 10th Anniversary Pride Flag Raising and Pride in the Park

The Glen Rock Pride Committee is proud to announce its 10th Anniversary Pride Flag Raising and Pride in the Park at Borough Hall on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 12–4 PM. This year’s celebration is dedicated to the memory of former councilmember Teresa Gilbreath, an early and enthusiastic supporter of Pride in Glen Rock. Guest speaker Jane Clementi, co-founder of the Tyler Clementi Foundation, will address attendees about the organization’s work to end online and offline bullying in schools, workplaces, and faith communities in honor of Tyler Clementi’s legacy.

The ceremonies will begin at noon with welcoming remarks from committee chair Adrian Hunt-Davies, followed by comments from Mayor Kristine Morieko. Student speakers from Glen Rock High School will include junior Alex Maguire and senior Maggie Rundell, and the Pride flag will be raised by Holly Goshin—who helped spearhead Glen Rock’s first Pride event in 2017.

Pride in the Park will begin at 1 PM and feature crafts, entertainment, artists, local businesses, and community and faith-based organizations. Refreshments will be available for purchase from the Pride Committee and local favorites including Francesca’s Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta, Cozie Café, CiCi’s Cakery, Merve’s Cookies, and Unicorn Lemonade. Activities will include bracelet making, face and rock painting, and temporary tattoos, and the afternoon will showcase performers from Porch Light Studio & Stage along with a Drag Queen DJ.

The Glen Rock Pride Committee is supported by the Borough of Glen Rock and through funds raised at its annual Drag Show. In addition to the Pride Flag Raising, the committee partners with the Glen Rock Library on book, music, and media events and maintains a year-round presence in the community. Pride flags will be distributed in front of Francesca’s from 11 AM–1 PM on May 27. As part of the United States’ 250th anniversary, Glen Rock High School history teacher Kathleen Walter will present a talk on June 25, at the Glen Rock Library, about Washington’s Gay General: The Legends and Loves of Baron Von Steuben, the graphic novel by Josh Trujillo. The committee also plans to host a town-wide scavenger hunt in September.

The Glen Rock Pride Committee promotes awareness and celebrates inclusion for LGBTQ residents of Glen Rock and beyond by organizing the annual Rainbow Flag Raising each June. Glen Rock has been recognized by the Bergen County Executive as the first town in Bergen County to hold an annual Pride event. Past guest speakers have included former Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank and former New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal.
