RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Weather delayed the ceremony an hour, but the Ridgewood High School class of 2020 has waited much longer than that.

On Wednesday, the graduating seniors and ceremony organizers battled the elements, and months of anticipation as, finally, they were able to celebrate their high school graduation in person.

State coronavirus protocols mandate in-person ceremonies to cap attendance at 500 people. Ridgewood's graduating class includes 436 students, creating a problem when it came to the inclusion of guests.

Gorman said the district requested permission to exceed the capacity, but the request was denied.
