Lady Panthers fall to Holy Angels in Bergen County Tournament
Team now focuses on North I Group II Tournament
The Glen Rock Lady Panthers suffered a 49-29 loss to the Academy of Holy Angels in the third round of the Bergen County Tournament on Sunday.
Both teams started out slowly with the Holy Angels holding a 10-9 lead after one quarter. Glen Rock briefly took 13-10 lead to start the second but could not hang on.
"We had a lead at the end of the third quarter and I thought we had a chance to open it up, but we missed the first four or five shots [in the second quarter]," said Panthers coach David Mosconi.

Despite crisp passing and a valiant defensive effort, sub-par shooting hurt Glen Rock’s ability to rally back after falling behind.

“I thought we played really well defensively and if we were able to make some shots we would have been in the game the entire way,” said Mosconi.

“Every time you play a better team, you should get better,” said Mosconi. “I think they will be better because this is the first time we’ve ever made the final eight [of the Bergen County tournament]."

Stat of the week: 100 wins
Alex Cimiluca isn’t the only 100-win wrestler on the team. He joins senior Matt Jacobson and junior Matt Dickman, to give Glen Rock/Saddle Brook a trio of wrestlers to reach the milestone.
