DUMONT, NJ — A CSX freight train struck and killed a 42-year-old Bergen County man on Monday morning, according to police.

The man was struck in Dumont, his hometown, near the area of West Madison and New Milford avenues, said Dumont Police Chief Brian Joyce.

The man was struck around 6:30 a.m., Joyce said.

"His department’s condolences are extended to the family," said a release from police. "For anyone who’s suffering through difficult times and/or contemplating suicide, please reach out to someone. There is help available by calling the NJ Hopeline (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) at 988."
