Man Violates Restraining Order, Follows Victim Through Bergen County Town: Police

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — A Passaic man was charged with attempted assault by auto after following someone through the streets of Hasbrouck Heights with his car, police said.

Faredon Abida, 56, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with violation of a restraining order as well.

According to Hasbrouck Heights Police Chief John Behr, Abida began following someone with his car in the area of Kipp Avenue on Sept. 18. The person had a restraining order against Abida, police said.

The person told police that they had to move out of the way to avoid being hit.

Rutheford Police Officer Jake Schuman spotted the accused vehicle in Rutherford on Monday, Behr said. Schuman began following it north on Hackensack Street.

He was joined by two East Rutherford Officers, Mike Bury and Matt Yannacone, when he entered that town.

Police stopped the car in East Rutherford.

Hasbrouck Heights Det. Sgt. Nick Brunetti, Detective Joseph Olivo, and Officer Anthony Rossillo arrested Abida.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail.
