Martin R. Plump, 30-Year Ridgewood Police Officer, Died Tuesday
Plump had a 'true passion' for his job.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Martin R. Plump, a former village police officer for 30 years, died Wednesday.
He was 75.
Plump, who was a lieutenant, had a "true passion," for his job as a Ridgewood Police officer and was an expert marksman. He also worked for 17 years as a security guard at Valley Hospital.

He was a graduate of Bergen Community College and William Paterson University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and sociology.
Plump had a strong Christian faith that carried him through his line of work, health and also influenced his daughter and grandchildren.

He was a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 113 and an accepted Mason.
He enjoyed photography, reading, watching movies, history, a passion for fine arts, video games, traveling, anything Disney and a love for St. Thomas USVI.
Above all his ultimate life’s joy was spending countless hours with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter, Bonnie, and grandchildren, Lourens and Brielle.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Angelica.
Visitation will be at Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave., in Ridgewood Sunday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 9 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 125 Glassgow Terrace in Mahwah.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Ridgewood Local PBA 20 at P.O. Box 27 Ridgewood, NJ 07451 or to Fidelity Lodge No. 113 at 99 South Maple Ave. Ridgewood, NJ 07450.
