Mary McNiff, Created 2,400 Baptismal Bibs At Mt. Carmel Church In Ridgewood

She was treasurer of the church's Rosary Society.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Mary McNiff, a faithful parishioner of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, died Monday. She was 85.

She was born in Ireland and was an active member of the Bergen Irish Association.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood. She was treasurer of the church's Rosary Society, a member of the Adoration Chapel Group, and coordinated and helped create more than 2,400 embroidered baptismal bibs over 16 years.

McNiff died on her and her husband John's 63rd wedding anniversary. Her husband predeceased her.

She is survived by her sons, John, and his wife JoAnne, and Patrick, and his wife, Joceil, and Christopher, and his wife, Mary; daughter Bernadette Townsend, and her husband, William; grandchildren Patricia, Michael, Erin, Megan, Patrick, Kevin, Mary, Kate, Sean, Catherine, Peter, Jennifer, and Christopher; and great-grandchildren John, Molly, and Taylor.

The family will receive friends and family at Feeney Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery at Ho-Ho-Kus.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.
