BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Seven of the 100 priciest zip codes in the country are in New Jersey, with a Bergen County town near the top again, according to the real estate website PropertyShark.

The priciest zip code, 07620/Alpine, came in at number 15 in the country and number 1 in the Garden State.

In terms of rankings, Alpine slipped a bit, as it came in at number 13 in the hot 100 last year.

In 2024, Alpine broke a record for New Jersey, with their median home sales over $3 million for the first time.

This year, the average home closing in Alpine was $4.38 million, the report says. Last year, it was $4.35.

To get the rankings, the company analyzed closed sales, as opposed to listing prices, to show "true price growth, rather than sellers’ wishes."

"The 11th edition of our annual ranking of the 100 most expensive zip codes in the U.S. reveals yet another banner year for the uppermost layers of the country’s residential market with rising prices in more than two-thirds of its leading zips," the company noted.

Nationally, Atherton, Calif. (94027) reclaimed the top spot with a nearly $11 million median sale price.

Shore Towns On Top

The company said that the majority of zips in the top 100 are located within five miles of the ocean.

Aside from Alpine, the other New Jersey towns to make the top 100 nationally were Stone Harbor, Avalon, Deal, Short Hills (which is actually a section of Millburn), Rumson, and Cape May Point.
