New Glen Rock Business Specializes In Irish Merchandise

A new gift shop opened specializing in all things Irish opened in Glen Rock earlier this month.

Glen Rock residents and owners Kristin and Michael McGowan said there was only one place they ever thought of opening the store.

“There was never a thought to open anywhere but in Glen Rock,” Michael McGowan said.

Carrick Mor, which means “Big Rock” in Irish, features merchandise from contemporary artists and craftsmen, including artwork, pottery, jewelry, home decor, and children’s items.

Some of the products the McGowans are selling have never been available in the United States, Kristen McGowan said.

“We’re learning about new artists and craftsmen all the time,” she said. “It’s an exciting part of having the store.”

The McGowans hope that the store will help them give back to Glen Rock and introduce out-of-towners to ”a town that’s loved so well.”
