AP Calls NJ 40th Senate Race For Incumbent Corrado

NJ 40 — The Associated Press has called the race for State Senate in New Jersey's 40th District, and with 96 percent of precincts reporting, it looks like Republican Kristin Corrado will retain her seat.

AP vote totals show Corrado with over 61 percent of the vote, with just five precincts in Passaic County left to report.

"I am humbled and honored to be re-elected as your State Senator," Corrado said late on Tuesday night.

"Thank you to my neighbors in Passaic, Bergen, Essex, and Morris counties for continuing to entrust me as your voice in Trenton."

The road to re-election didn't pose much of a challenge for Corrado who, according to the unofficial results, garnered at least 57 percent of the vote in Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic Counties.

Democratic challenger Michael Sedon did best in his home county of Bergen, but still only garnered just over 42 percent of the vote.

Here are the unofficial vote totals, according to the Associated Press:

• Kristin Corrado (R) — 45,251
• Michael Sedon (D) — 28,182
