BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The White Manna hamburger restaurant in Hackensack has been serving up sliders, shakes, and crinkle fries since just after World War II. And burgers have never gone out of style.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill stopped in for a bite last week, saying she's been promoting small businesses around the state.

"Small businesses employ nearly half of New Jersey’s workforce," Sherrill noted, "and supporting them means supporting jobs and communities across our state. My administration is working to make it easier to run a business here so owners can spend more time focused on the people they serve."

White Manna, and the White Mana Diner in Jersey City, both trace their roots to a man who served up sliders at the 1939 World's Fair and brought the concept to North Jersey. The two eateries have separate owners.
