The suspect had run from the scene prior to policed arrival, but was eventually located by police a short distance from the station. The man would not respond to officers, police said, and ran into a home on Central Avenue, where he was acquainted with the owner.
After an hour-long standoff, officers were able to negotiate with him and convince him to surrender. The man was subsequently placed under arrest by NJ Transit Police, who transported him to their headquarters.
