Pizza Restaurant Reviewer Dave Portnoy Will Launch His New Project In New Jersey

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Dave Portnoy, the pizza reviewer who owns Barstool Sports, will come to Ridgewood later this month to promote his new book, "Cancel Me If You Can."

Portnoy has gained millions of viewers by posting YouTube videos with his views on life, sports, his dogs, and most prominently, pizzerias around the country.

Portnoy doesn't keep his strong opinions quiet, saying last year that if Zohran Mamdani became mayor of New York, he might move his company to Hoboken or Jersey City. As the book title suggests, he has avoided being "canceled."

In Portnoy's "One Bite Pizza Reviews" videos, he typically stops into a shop, gives a bit of its history, enjoys one bite of hot pizza, and rates it on a scale of 1 to 10.

But the business of publishing is different.

Pornoy's got to sell books, and fans will have to buy his book if they want to meet him at his appearance in Bergen County later this month.

He will appear at the Bookends book shop in Ridgewood at 6 p.m. on June 30 — the same day his book is released.

Simon and Schuster describes his new memoir this way: "In his unfiltered style, Dave Portnoy details the journey of how he built his polarizing media empire, Barstool Sports, while refusing to bend the knee to those who tried to tear him down, staying true to himself and blocking out the haters."

The book chronicles his beginnings including playing Little League and later passing out his own sports newspaper in Boston.
