Police identify Man Who Committed Suicide From George Washington Bridge Thursday
Michael Engelson was the 18th person to commit suicide from the bridge in 2015, police said.

The body of the man who committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge Thursday has been identified, Port Authority police said.
Michael Engelson, 30, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. jumped from the bridge’s upper level, mid-span, at about 11:20 a.m. Thursday, Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo previously said.
A black Subaru belonging to Engelson was located at 172 Street in Manhattan, Pentangelo said.

Emergency crews performed CPR on Engelson, who police spotted in the Hudson River at about 11:20 a.m., police said. Engelson was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City.

Engelson’s was the 18th confirmed suicide from the bridge in 2015, the same number to occur in 2014, according to police.
