ORADELL, NJ — The collapse of a railing after a football game between two Bergen County rivals resulted in an injury to one audience member, police said.

After the Saturday game in Oradell between Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco — which drew 4,000 spectators, police said — a railing separating spectators from the field fell over, causing the crowd to tumble.

One audience member sustained a leg injury that was treated at the scene, said Police Chief David Gangemi on Monday.

"At the conclusion of the game, students and players gathered near the student section to celebrate," he said. "During the gathering, a fence and railing gave way, causing several spectators to spill onto the track."

Oradell police had been providing security for the game, played at Jack McGovern Field at Bergen Catholic.

There were no other injuries reported, the chief said.

The game was the 84th between the rivals. Bergen Catholic, which was down 24-0 at one point, came back to win 34-30, reported the Record.

A spectator posed a video of the collapse here.

"The Oradell Police Department would like to thank Bergen Catholic staff and all responding personnel for their cooperation and professionalism throughout the event," Gangemi said.
