Red Cross To Sell Ridgewood Location

The American Red Cross will cease operations at its Ridgewood location and place the property on the market, the non-profit announced Monday.

The organization will put its location at 74 Godwin Ave. up for sale in the “upcoming weeks”.

Including the Ridgewood facility, the only Bergen County location, the company operates 13 offices in North Jersey.

Red Cross spokesperson Diane Concannon said the Ridgewood location is severely underutilized and that the building is “barely” used anymore. Only two staff members are in the building five days a week and two are in it one day a week.

“It is a very desirable location for a business or non-profit organization,” said Concannon. ”The building is bigger than what we need.”

The Red Cross’ Warren County office will also close. The moves are part of a massive re-examination and reorganization strategy of the non-profit’s facilities. The company conducted a similar re-examination in 2012.

Concannon said the move will not affect the organization’s Bergen County operations.

“It won’t change what we do or the services we offer,” Cocannon said. ”The majority of the services we perform are out in the community and not in brick-and-mortar locations.”
