Ridgewood Art Institute to Present Wayne Resident's 'Plein Air Watercolors' Exhibit, Artist's Reception Sept. 28

The Ridgewood Art Institute will present, “Plein Air Watercolors,” an exhibition of paintings by master watercolorist, Joel Popadics, with an Artist’s Reception to be held on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

The exhibition will continue through Saturday, Oct. 11. Gallery hours are weekdays, 9:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. and weekends 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Popadics, a lifelong Wayne resident, is considered to be one of nation’s top watercolor landscape artists. A professional artist for over 30 years, his paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums across the United States including the National Academy of Art and Design in New York and the San Francisco Academy of Art in San Francisco. His work is in public and private collections and his artwork has raised money for charitable organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Table-to-Table Food Bank Network and the LAM Foundation.

Popadics’ watercolors have received numerous national awards and he is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and an elected member of five art organizations. An advocate of the medium, he has written many articles on the topic of watercolor for ”American Artist,” “Watercolor Artist” and “The Artist’s” magazines.

Mr. Popadics is a Past-President of the New Jersey Watercolor Society. He is an executive board member and the education director of the Ridgewood Art Institute where he also teaches painting and drawing to adults and children. During the summer, he leads outdoor painting workshops to various locations in the United States and Europe. This past August, he was artist-in-residence at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont. He has been a guest lecturer at Parsons School of Design and The King’s College in New York City. Popadics received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York. He resides in Wayne with his wife Patricia and their two sons. His original paintings can be viewed on-line at www.watercolorpop.com.
