From Ridgewood With Books: Bookends Donates To Paterson Schools

Bookends, in partnership with Paterson Public Schools and Paterson Reads, donated roughly 1,500 books to Paterson students on Monday.

PATERSON, NJ — Paterson students will have roughly 1,500 new books at their disposal this year following an initiative between the school district, Paterson Reads, and Ridgewood's Bookends bookstore.

The initiative, billed as the "Summer Reading Book Bundles" program, gave people the opportunity to purchase bundles of up to six books from Bookends, which were delivered to Paterson students weekly.

Each bundle contained books selected specifically for each grade level, with curation help from librarians at the Paterson Free Public Library.

Paterson Public Schools Communications Director Paul Brubaker told Patch that roughly 1,500 books were purchased and donated throughout the duration of the program.

"We are so thrilled to be working with the Paterson Public School District and Paterson Reads on this important campaign," said Bookends owners Pat and Walter Boyer, in an earlier joint statement.
