Ridgewood Council Member Bernadette Walsh Announces Resignation

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Bernadette Walsh announced her resignation from the Village Council at a Wednesday meeting.

Walsh cited a family move out of state as the reason for the decision, which will see her step away from the council effective immediately.

"It's with deep regret that I must resign my council position effective at the closing of this evening's meeting," Walsh began.

"My husband is being transferred out of state, and while we will remain taxpayers in Ridgewood, we will no longer be considered legal residents."

"I have cherished my time on the Village Council, and am saddened that I need to leave my term early," she added.

A special election will be held in November to select Walsh's replacement, and applications for those seeking to run are due Aug. 30.

In addition to her role as council member, Walsh currently serves on the Field Committee and the Kasschau Memorial Shell Committee. She also serves as the council representative to the Board of Education.
