Ridgewood Crew Wins Medals At National And Regional Competitions

Girls' and boys' individual and team boats won several gold and bronze medals.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — What a month it’s been for Ridgewood Crew.

The team won eight medals at the Cities Championship May 1.

The girls’ freshmen won the gold medal: Alexandra Walton Roth, Claudia Ricatto, Hayley Jubitz, Ainsley Wikinson.

The boys’ freshmen boat won the bronze medal: Duncan DuRivage, Drew Johnson, Alexander Melarti, and Henry Koontz.

  • Girls’ JV, gold medal: Isabella DeGregorio and Claire Callaghan
  • Boys’ JV, gold medal: Edward Hida and Charles Koontz
  • Boys’ Ltwt, bronze medal: Spencer Campbell and Sam Daspin
  • Girls’ Varsity, bronze medal: Julia Randall
  • Boys’ Varsity, gold medal: Brendan Caltavuturo
  • Girls’ Varsity, bronze medal: Caroline Lampone and Erin Dwyer

Rowers also won medals at the US Rowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships.

  • Men’s Youth, gold medal: Brendan Caltavuturo
  • Women’s Under 17, bronze medal: Maraea Garcia, Melanie Mayfield
  • Women’s Youth, Olivia Lavin, Sophia Bicks, Melissa Dexter, Jordan Wittmaack, sixth place.

Twelve Ridgewood boats qualified for the finals at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, one of the largest high school rowing regatta in the world.

Three boats won bronze medals:

  • Boys’ senior single: Brendan Caltavuturo
  • Girls’ senior double: Erin Dwyer and Caroline Lampone
  • Girls’ freshman quads: Ainsley Wikinson, Hayley Jubitz, Claudia Ricatto, and Alexandra Walton Roth

The boys’ and girls’ JV boats each won a bronze medal at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championship this weekend. Georgia Hefferon and Chloe Young and Ed Hida and Charlie Koontz row those boats.
