Ridgewood Kids Will Get Surprise 5-Day Memorial Day Weekend: Here's Why
Ridgewood students are about to have a longer Memorial Day weekend than they expected...as long as Mother Nature cooperates.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ridgewood kids are about to get a five-day Memorial Day weekend rather than three days. You can credit (or blame) Mother Nature for that.
Despite two snowstorms in North Jersey this season — including one that closed most of the Bergen County schools — the district did not use up its alotment of emergency closing days. So they're extending the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
At the end of last month, the school district announced, ""Each year, Ridgewood Public Schools incorporates emergency closing days into our school calendar. This year, the District did not use all of the allotted days. Therefore, after reviewing the calendar for the remainder
of the current school year, the district has decided that schools will be closed Friday, May 24, 2024 and Tuesday, May 28, 2024 provided there is no need for the use of an additional emergency day prior to that date."
