RIDGEWOOD, NJ — With no local primary races on the ballot Tuesday, Democrat and Republican voters in Ridgewood won’t be selecting who will represent them on any local councils or boards, but will still cast votes for county and state races.

Voters in Ridgewood, and across most of Bergen County, will place their vote for their member of the House of Representatives. Josh Gottheimer, the incumbent in the Fifth District, faces a primary challenge from Arati S. Kreibich, who once volunteered for the Gottheimer campaign.

On the Republican side, John McCann, who lost to Gottheimer in 2018, is back on the ballot, along with James Baldini, Frank Pallotta and Hector Castillo.

Republicans Ronald Kistner and Simone Tsigounis will also seek the two seats of the Board.

In the Senate race, incumbent, and former presidential-hopeful Cory Booker faces challenger Lawrence Hamm, an activist from Newark.

Hamm has been a relentless voice for civil rights since high school, when he spearheaded a student takeover of a local hotel to demand better facilities and an end to a teacher's strike. That display of leadership earned him an appointment to the Newark Board of Education, making him the youngest school board member in the United States at the age of 17.
