Ridgewood Schools, Village Offices Closed Due To Flooding

Ida brought heavy rain to the area, causing flash flooding across North Jersey. Bergen County officials have declared a state of emergency.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ida brought heavy rains to much of North Jersey, causing flooding in Ridgewood that left roads unpassable.

The local Office of Emergency Management said the village was dealing with "severe flooding" which resulted in multiple unpassable raods. The volume of water — over six inches of rain in nearby Paramus, according to the National Weather Service — even caused flooding in some homes.

As a result, village offices and all schools within the public school system are closed on Thursday, officials announced.
