Ridgewood Teen Will Attempt Historic 20-Mile Swim This Morning: Report
Charlotte Samuels is the first person to attempt to swim this particular route, which could take between 12 and 16 hours to complete.

Charlotte Samuels will try something this morning that’s never been tried before.
She will attempt to swim 20 miles across the New York Bight, from Atlantic Beach in Long Island, New York to Sea Bright, New Jersey, NJ.com reported. No swimmer has attempted to swim the route.
The former Breakers Swim Team member told the website that she is more excited than nervous about the swim, the report states. She will have to contend with whatever Mother Nature throws her way, something that pool swimmers never have to face, which is what makes open water swimming all the more challenging.

Samuels, 17, has already won the Triple Crown of swimming by swimming across the English Channel, the Catalina Channel in California, and around the island of Manhattan.
“I didn’t do it to be famous or to break a world record,” Samuels said. “I just did it because I wanted to hold onto something that I knew I really loved.”
