Ridgewood's Graydon Pool Faces Closures Due To Lack Of Staff
A lifeguard shortage is forcing schedule alterations at the pool, and certain areas will be closed completely on certain days.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A lifeguard shortage will likely force the Graydon Pool to close certain areas of the pool, and an early start to school will alter the schedule for the rest of the season.
Officials shared that a lack of lifeguards will force the kiddie pool and shallow end to close on some days, but added that unless there are sufficient lifeguards, the deep end will remain closed as well.
The pool will be closed completely on Aug. 24, Aug. 30 and Sept. 3.

One reason for the pool being closed on those days is the early start to classes at Ridgewood High School, which is set to have the first day of school prior to Labor Day.
"This has not happened since the 2015-2016 school year," Village Manager Heather Mailander added.

The village has put out a call for certified lifeguards, and are hoping that they can bring more onboard to keep the pool open longer.
"We are hoping that there are certified waterfront lifeguards in the area who are willing to work at Graydon Pool for these days, so that we may keep the pool open every day through Labor Day," officials said.
