Residents Report Flooding On Route 17 In Ridgewood

Thunderstorms bring threat of flash floods to Bergen County Sunday night. Flash flood warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A thunderstorm brought flash flooding throughout Bergen County Sunday afternoon into the evening.

There was minor flooding in Ridgewood on Route 17 near Linwood Avenue Sunday afternoon.

A flash flood warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported.

Emerson resident Liz Clayton said it took her two hours to get home from ShopRite. She had to navigate a flooded parking lot.

Flash flooding was expected Sunday night as thunderstorms blanketed the area.

The National Weather Service’s flood hydrograph showed that the Saddle River in Ridgewood was expected to crest at slightly more than one-and-a-half feet. Flood stage for the river is five feet.
