Snow And Severe Thunderstorms In Bergen County Weather Forecast For Monday: NWS
Excessive rainfall, possible flash floods, even snow showers are in the forecast as a storm bears down on Bergen County Sunday into Monday.
Heavy rains and "severe" thunderstorms in North Jersey on Sunday into Monday could include snow in Bergen County as temperatures drop, the National Weather Service says.
"There is an increasing potential for strong to severe thunderstorms Monday along and ahead of a strong cold front," the NWS said in its forecast on Sunday. "Localized flash flooding will also be possible."

The cold front may lead to snow showers on Monday into Tuesday in North Jersey as temperatures drop into the 30s, the NWS says.

There's more than a 50 percent chance of snow in the northernmost regions of the state.

For Bergen County specifically, the greatest chance for snow is the wee hours of Tuesday morning, ending by 8 a.m. The NWS doesn't predict much of an accumulation.

Daily Forecasts
The specific NWS forecasts for Bergen County say:
- Sunday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2 a.m. Patchy fog after 2 a.m. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Monday: Intermittent showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before noon. Wind gusts as high as 39 MPH.
- Monday Night: Rain showers before 5 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers. "The rain could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible...Winds could gust as high as 41 MPH. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected."
- Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 8 a.m.
Bundle Up
Watch for temperatures to drop even lower on Tuesday morning, the NWS warns.
"A much colder air mass settles in for Tuesday with temperatures struggling to reach 40 degrees in some areas," the NWS says. "A gusty westerly wind will also add a chill factor with wind chill values down into the upper teens to low 20s early Tuesday morning."
