Snow Day: Ridgewood, Glen Rock Schools Closed Friday
The public school districts in Ridgewood and Glen Rock will be closed on Friday ahead of a forecasted snow storm.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The public school districts in Ridgewood and Glen Rock will record the first snow day of the year just a few days into the new semester.
Ahead of a forecasted snow storm which could cause dangerous roadway conditions during Friday's commute, officials from both districts announced that schools would be closed on Friday.
"Due to the inclement weather expected tomorrow, all Ridgewood Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 7, 2022," Ridgewood officials said.

"If weather conditions permit, after-school and evening activities at Ridgewood Public Schools may be held. The coaches and advisors will notify students."
Glen Rock officials didn't offer any word regarding after school or evening activities.

Forecasters predict 3-5 in. of snowfall in North Jersey starting Thursday night and continuing into Friday morning. The snow predicted for Friday morning is likely to cause the most problems, NWS officials said.
"Treacherous roadway conditions are likely, especially early," the NWS said, signaling potential trouble for morning commuters.
Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency on Thursday, which goes into effect at 10 p.m.
Murphy recommended that anyone who can work remotely or start later in the day should do so. Forecasters expect the brunt of the storm to occur between 1-7 a.m. Friday, with the highest snowfall totals projected for portions of South and Central Jersey.
