State Senator O'Toole Won't Run For Re-Election Next Year

O'Toole represents the 40th Legislative District, which includes Ridgewood.

WAYNE, NJ - State District 40 Senator Kevin O’Toole will not seek re-election next year. He plans on stepping down when his term ends in January 2018.

“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve the people of New Jersey, I can never repay the debt of gratitude I owe the voters and constituents for having entrusted me to represent them,” O’Toole said in a statement issued Friday. “I believe it is time to create opportunities for the next — younger — generation of dedicated public servants to have their chance to make a difference.”

O’Toole, a Cedar Grove native, served 12 years in the State Assembly and 10 in the Senate. He served on the Cedar Grove Town Council for seven years, from 1989 to 1996. He is a managing partner of his law firm, O’Toole Fernandez Weiner Van Lieu.
