TikTok Challenge Sees Glen Rock Police Upping Patrols At Schools

Police officials said there have been no threats of violence directed at any Glen Rock schools, but safety measures will be taken anyway.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — There have been no threats of violence at Glen Rock schools, but police will enhance their presence throughout the course of the day Friday as a matter of caution.

This comes as a national trend, which appears to have originated on TikTok, led to multiple law enforcement agencies across the country saying they are monitoring reports of a challenge which has encouraged students to threaten gun violence at their schools on Friday.

Glen Rock Police Lt. Frank Riggio said the department "is aware of the trending December 17th TikTok challenge and we have been in contact with school officials."

"While there are no known specific threats to any of the Glen Rock public or private schools, Glen Rock officers are proactively showing a greater presence around as well as within the schools today out of an abundance of caution."

And they aren't the only department to do so, with officials in Paramus and Ridgewood announcing they would up the presence of police on school grounds Friday.
