Tool Time? Glen Rock Police Warn Of Local 'Home Improvement Scams'

Your chimney needs inspecting; want me to look? Home improvement scams are in the rise in Glen Rock, NJ, the police said this week.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Police in Glen Rock said Monday that they've seen an "uptick" in what they're calling "home improvement scams" in town.

In the scam, someone poses as a repair person or inspector to get inside a person's home. Then, the person will say the house needs a repair, and charge them.

"Often times when someone knocks on your door unsolicited telling you that your home needs a repair, and offers to inspect your roof, driveway or chimney for free, they are scammers," police said.
