WATCH: Cop Smashes Window To Save Toddler From Hot Car

The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. at Costco in Hackensack, when a store employee told police there was a child in a hot car, reports say.

A child left in a hot car was rescued Thursday by a Bergen County Sheriff’s officer, video footage from the scene shows. The mother has been charged with child endangerment, reports say.

The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. at Costco in Hackensack, when a store employee notified the officer there was a child in a hot car, NJ.com reported. When he responded, the child was reportedly crying in the car seat.

One officer smashed a van window to rescue the child, who, according to another officer on the scene, was “soaking wet” with sweat once pulled out of the vehicle, the video shows.

He used his baton to smash the window, the video shows.

The child’s mother, Chaeyoung Lim-Kim, has been charged with child endangerment, NJ.com reported.

The officer told NJ.com it was at least 80 degrees in the van.
